A friendly creative studio in the heart of Pummery Square.
We specialise in the making of beautiful, bespoke window treatments. The majority of our work is made in house by our talented team. We hand finish our sewing and pay great care and attention to detail. At Stitchinghouse there is time to put creative soft furnishing ideas together, discuss your style taste and the practicalities of your house and lifestyle along with sound knowledge about interlinings, how curtains drape and hang, heading styles. etc etc. We try and be flexible and open to good design. We are happy to make from the elegant and simple to complicated and ornate.
We are quite happy when surrounded by carpet and paint samples, fabric pattern books, cups of coffee, photos of houses, The Archers on the radio and the dog snoring in his bed at the back of the shop.
The needlework skills of the Stitchinghouse team is something of which we are all very proud. Tailored Loose covers, Roman blinds that you can’t work out how they are made because the stitching is invisible, wow factor curtains…. Some of our more unusual commissions have been dressing the Town Crier, lining a willow coffin and curtaining a theatre. We like a challenge.
Half of the studio is home to our pattern book library where we house collections from Colfax & Fowler, Manuel Canovas, James Hare Silks, Sanderson, Zoffany, Harlequin, Johnstons of Elgin and Warwick to name but a few. We have varied displays of curtain poles and collections of braids and trimmings from classical and quiet in style to bright and bonkers.
We like to think we are a happy, welcoming, fun, flexible and talented team. It’s our 21st Birthday year in Poundbury in 2016. We are very settled here have made many friends along the way.
